cool tools
the mission statement at alice supply co. declares that a toolbox has feelings too, and that a plunger will soon once again rule the world. looking at their designer housewares, decked out in colorful stripes and patterns, it’s hard to disagree! seriously, that’s one fabulous plunger! it’s great to see forgotten household items like garden tools and ping pong paddles get a makeover. we especially love their nautical line, which would look great with some of of our own nautical AT HOME products!

lovely letters
it’s no secret that at dabney lee we love a good monogram. well, a drop cap is only one step away from a monogram, and that’s why we also adore the blog daily drop cap! each day, typographer and illustrator jessica hische creates a new, fun letter that can be used to spice up your blog. it’s also a great place to go for inspiration, and we can’t help but wonder how the dabney lee logo would look with some of these fabulous letter forms!

flood relief
today there is something i’d like to share that is near and dear to my heart. it comes from our friend and top store in franklin, tennessee, lauren rauter at rock paper scissors….
Today there is no style, fashion, paper and personal wants. I write this post with a heavy heart, while I watch those around me in the Nashville area suffer tremendous loss from the flooding that overtook our communities this past weekend. On Sunday, I awoke to the news that our city was flooding. As my husband and I jumped in the car to check on the shop, I witnessed sites that I shall never forget for my entire life. And while, my home and shop remained perfectly dry and safe… there are so many around us who were not as fortunate. Oil spills and potential car bombings took center stage on the national news this weekend, while what was happening to us here in Tennessee seemed to fly under the radar. The photos I have posted are those that I took and what I witnessed first hand… and only a small glimpse of the true disaster that unfolded. Complete neighborhoods were submerged, businesses were lost and most importantly lives were taken. Nashville landmarks like The Grand Ole Opry, the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, the stadium of the Titans… were also all in the path of the raging rivers. To say the least, it has been a surreal couple of days.
From now till Sunday, May 9th… we at Rock Paper Scissors will donate 10% of all Dabney Lee on-line sales to the Nashville Red Cross. In addition, Dabney will match each and every donation we make!!!

three times the fun!
when i think back to when i found out we were having triplets, i remember pure shock, then pure joy, then i realized i had to have a fabulous nursery. that’s right, i said TRIPLETS! good thing i had the help of my BFF at rock paper scissors and her amazing hubby to help us with our nursery two weeks before our little ones arrived! it was really great they were there since my hubby isn’t very good at this sort of stuff and proceeded to paint the wrong wall. he really tries, but he’s much better at giving us the scores of the games and keeping us fed + hydrated!
many of you know that i have an obsession with shelter island. after all, it’s where my husband spent all of his summers growing up and it’s where we were married. since our babies will grow up going out to the island, we just knew they had to have a shelter island nursery!
how we created the nursery in ONE day…
-it all started with the zig zag walls… {disney paint, blustery day}
-we hung three amazing shelter island posters that i had been collecting for years
-we found a great sea urchin lamp from williams sonoma home
-our godson and goddaughter gave us our fabulous trellis rug from pottery barn kids
-to make things PERFECT, my BFF gave us a pillow with our shelter island ferry image {from our stationery collection} that she had made for us

ps- it just so happens that our babies arrived on january 16th, one day before my shower that my BFF was hosting. i am guessing they heard there was a party and didn’t want to miss the fun! oh babies!

cabana chic
every year around this time, i dream of a fabulous escape from the harsh new york winter. i may even go as far as pack my bags in my sleep. since a vacation filled with yummy cocktails under an ultra chic cabana is not in sight for me, i must redirect my dreams into designs…
check out a fun cabana themed wedding schedule of events we just finished for a very fabulously chic bride! perhaps she will think of us ALL as she is sipping cocktails under the cabana…

sneak a peek…
recently my iphone crashed on me and when i was without my contacts for a few hours while the nice people at the apple store fixed my phone, i had a mini panic attack… what if i lost my contacts forever!!!! what a mess it would be to try to obtain everyone’s addresses, cell phones, home phone, anniversaries + birthdays. i immediately thought that i should have a back up system. i mean, we back everything up here at the studio. all of our files are saved for years, so why shouldn’t we apply that to our beloved contacts? sometimes it’s just good to do things the old fashioned way!
here is a sneak peek at our fabulous rolodex… it’s going to be the most stylish back up system you’ll ever have!
