please attend
this wedding season, if you’re planning your big day, you might want to check out the talented photographers at the wedding artists collective. actually, go take a look whether you’re tying the knot or not! the photos all have a fresh, vintage feel to them, perfect for a summery outdoor wedding, and beautiful to look at. the artists that make up the collective also do very creative invitations, but we had fun pairing the photos with our own SOIREE line of invites below!

as seen on tv
our good friends at haute papier were recently on fox 5 DC, the local DC news station, showing off their fabulous store in leesburg, virginia. and one of the products that made it on air was our very own lucite tray! you can go here to their blog to watch the full segment; you’ll also get a virtual tour of their store, and a peek at their letterpress in action. if you’re in the DC area, definitely go and visit them in person! thanks for the mention, ladies!!

beach style
the high temps keep on coming, and sometimes we wish we could spend our entire summer lounging on the beach and sipping drinks. if we really had our way, we would want our beach house to look just like this! there’s a great article on the blog shelterpop featuring interior designer thomas jayne who talks about the process of updating an antique beach house into a moderne getaway. and he did it without resorting to beach clichés, like excessive whitewashing or seashell-encrusted niknaks. we love the classic furniture and natural wood paired with bold pops of color. you can read all about his design process here. hmm…maybe we can pack up the dabney lee office and move in for the summer. if we do, you’re all invited to the housewarming party!

love this chair
this playful chair, by european design studio tuyo, has us falling in love! there’s just something about the combination of plywood and brightly colored felt, not to mention the nature-inspired surprise in the back. what a clever way to bring the outdoors inside! and the other furniture at their website is just as fab!

nautical style
with soaring temps all across the east coast – here’s looking at you nyc – we thought the only thing to cool down was to grab a scoop of vanilla with chocolate chip from brooklyn ice cream factory, crank the ac + surf the web for our next hostess gift. can’t you almost hear the seagulls and feel the ocean breeze in your hair?! the online store art effect has tons of chic gift ideas from a number of brands. but what’s even better is one of their featured sections called “nod to nautical” which made our search super easy. they’ve compiled all of their navy, stripey, anchored designs in one easy-to-browse place. and you know how much we at dabney lee love anything nautical! have some fun looking around while staying cool…we certainly did!

off the wall
at dabney lee we can’t seem to get enough of colorful, bold patterns, and these two wallpaper companies fit the bill! the first one, graham & brown has locations all over the world and they offer wallpaper from a number of designers in bold geometrics and modern florals. for those who are a bit more daring, take a look at the hand silkscreened wallpaper designs at flavor paper, based right here in brooklyn. wallpaper from either company will definitely make a bold statement in your home!

not your typical getaway
if you’re like us, summer makes you think of travel, vacations, and sitting by the water. well, these two hotels are a very different take on all that! the harlingen lighthouse is just what it sounds like — a lighthouse where you and a loved one can actually spend the night overlooking the city and the water. or, if you’re not fond of heights, there’s also the lilla marras lifeboat, which hides its luxurious accommodations below deck. they’re both located in harlingen, an old fishing town in the netherlands. it’s not a vacation for everyone, especially those who don’t like cramped spaces, but it’s fun to look at those fabulous photos and dream! you can learn more about the hotels or make a reservation here at their site.
